Happy Independence Day!

Today we reflect on the founding of our nation and honor those whose great vision made our country possible.

Today marks the beginning of our nations quest for independence. With the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we began a journey toward creating a land that offered freedom for all.

We appreciate all of our team members and their hard work to help make this nation a great place to live. We want to give a special thank you to all the drivers on the road today! Your work made these celebrations possible. Have a happy 4th!

WorkHound - Our New FirstFleet Communication Tool

The best and fastest way to strengthen company interactions is to have open communication. We have found a new way to connect and communicate with our drivers by using a tool called WorkHound. We want to listen to driver ideas in how to improve technology, our work environment, and the general workflow.

As part of the newly created Driver Retention department, FirstFleet has partnered with WorkHound to open the communication between FirstFleet drivers and the office staff. WorkHound is a company that lets employees communicate anonymously with their employer. This form of communication allows honest, candid interactions and gives us valuable feedback to make improvements.

WorkHound’s process is very simple. WorkHound will send weekly text messages to drivers asking them a variety of questions. Drivers will then respond by giving a rating and any extra comments they wish.

Here is a short video of how the text messages will look and how they flow: CLICK HERE. Drivers can interact through the platform as often as they want to. It can be twice per week, twice per month or every day. The driver just has to select the link each time they wish to provide feedback.

As the video shows, Workhound made the process very simple, and we invite ALL FirstFleet drivers to participate. So, please JOIN the new form of communication and be part of the FirstFleet TEAM that will positively impact changes to policy and procedures. FirstFleet wants to hear it all, the good, the bad and the ugly!

RoadCheck 2022 Is In Full Swing!

Be prepared for an increase in DOT Inspections and traffic stops this week! Please be aware that officers are paying close attention to wheel ends during this Road Check enforcement blitz. Wheel Ends includes brakes, wheels, tires, lug nuts, and oil leaks. Road Check officially lasts until May 19th but may continue after that date!

We have done it again. We have helped make America's Thanksgiving celebrations happen! Many of our employees will be working on Thanksgiving and we would just like to say thank you for all you do. Veterans Day - Nov. 11, 2021

As I read through our national history, it is clear that what we have was attained through our soldier’s sacrifices. They separated from their families to secure this country and their livelihoods. Now our armies are all voluntary - a big change from the draft days - but their sacrifices are no less worthy because of it. Some gave it all, some came home visibly broken and for others their war never ended. But our country is unique and made all the more honorable because of their service and sacrifice. Our veterans have held and continue to hold together our nation. Our service members fought for our right to say what we want, worship how we want, assemble with whomever we want, and to write and publish whatever we want. They knew this great nation was worth fighting to keep.

We are proud to have many former service members in our FirstFleet family. You all have made this country great and now you are a vital part of what makes FirstFleet great also. Don’t forget to thank a veteran today!

Coming Soon - Workday Transition 8/30

FirstFleet is proud to announce that we are transitioning to Workday as a software partner to help manage our business. Starting August 30th employees will see a slightly different experience when using some resources on our website and in our mobile application. Specifically, you will see changes to tools that help you manage benefits, time cards, vacation requests, updating contact information, direct deposit information, and more. This advancement allows us to continue the trajectory of growth and provide first class tools for our employees.

As with any transition of this scale we recognize that there will be challenges and learning curves associated with the "newness" of the tool. Please rest assured we have invested significant time to make this transition as easy as possible. Most of the resources that you use to manage your employment experience are still accessed in the same way, but their look and feel likely will be new to you.

While we have worked for months to ensure a smooth transition, we are fully aware that there will be opportunities for us to refine the process and interactions that you have with it. Over the coming few weeks we will work to close any gaps that are identified in the system, and during this time we do ask for your help, patience and feedback. Should you find issues that need our attention please do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@firstfleetinc.com for the fastest care.

One area we know may provide a bit of a challenge for some users is if they are not running the most recent update to our application. Now is a great time to visit this link on your device to ensure you have the most up to date experiences with FirstFleet Mobile.

Happy Independence Day, FirstFleet!

On the 4th of July every year, America celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. That document declared our independence from British rule and the founding of a new nation. Last year, we didn't get to celebrate like usual. It felt strange to honor our national Independence day while in lockdown. But with time and amazing scientific achievements, we can now celebrate with friends and family again!

Let's celebrate our freedoms over some burgers and fireworks this July 4th and as you do, please remember this most famous line from the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Wherever you find yourself on this holiday, we hope all of you on the FirstFleet team are able to celebrate our great nation!

Operation Safe Driver Week is Coming Soon!

Hello FirstFleet!

The annual one-week enforcement and educational campaign, Operation Safe Driver Week will occur July 11-17.

FirstFleet would like to do our part to help reduce the number of injuries and deaths caused by accidents that occur on our roadways across the US. We all know just how deadly crashes can be when they involve large trucks.

We also know that 94% of traffic crashes are caused by driver actions. Some of these actions could be speeding, driving while distracted by a phone or other object in the vehicle, or driving under the influence. 2020 was a particularly deadly year on America’s roads with accidents increasing 24%, even though fewer people were on the roads. We are joining with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and law enforcement personnel to help increase the safety of our roads.

Here at FirstFleet, we employ a team of 3k professional drivers who are on the road all day, every day. We have a wealth of experience at our fingertips and we want to hear from you. We want to hear your tips for staying safe on the roads and to know how you avoid accidents. Also, what have you done when in a bad situation to stay safe?

If you are comfortable sharing a video safety message with us, you can email it to podcast@firstfleetinc.com. We would like for all of our drivers to call in and leave a short audio message that we will combine into a safety video for not just our drivers, but also our community. Memorial Day 2021

As many folks go on vacation or gather with friends to celebrate the beginning of summer, it can be easy for us to forget what this weekend is about. Memorial Day is really a day set aside to remember those that have lost their lives while serving in the US military. And when we forget to honor those fallen men and women then we also forget the blessing that they gave us.

There are people all around us who have lost close friends and relatives in the fight for our freedoms. And this day is the day for us to slow down and grieve with them and honor those that spilled their blood so that we could be free. Today we extend our heartfelt thanks to those who have served in our nations defense. For those that have lost a loved one in the line of duty, we grieve with you today as we honor their memory.

Happy Thanksgiving FirstFleet!

This year has certainly been a tough one but those of us at FirstFleet have a lot to be thankful for. Even though our family gatherings may look different this year, we still shouldn’t miss this opportunity to tell everything we have to be thankful for.

Even though there are a lot of fears and uncertainties associated with the pandemic, one thing we can be thankful for is that our work has continued. Our collective hard work is helping keep our nation supplied with the products they desperately need. Many have expressed their gratitude as we deliver essential goods like groceries, boxes, and paper products. I am grateful to have been able to play my part in keeping our country going during this hard year. I have found gratitude to be the perfect antidote to my daily frustrations. Focusing on the bigger picture and recognizing what I’m thankful for helps me be a better coworker and friend to those around me. So I hope we will all take some time this week to list the things that we are thankful for, even if (like me) you can’t go home and see family this Thanksgiving. And let’s always remember the transportation professionals that may be on the road this Thanksgiving day.

Veteran's Day 2020

Today is the day where we get to honor all of the living veterans who have fought for our country and to preserve our freedoms. Today is the day to honor those around us who took time out from civilian pursuits to embrace a higher calling. It’s the day that I honor my cousin, uncle, grandad and others for their service. It’s a day to say thank you to all those that learned to sleep with their boots on. And it’s a day to honor all those that came home as very different people than when they left.

We at FirstFleet would like to say thank you to the 18 million veterans in the US. And we would also like to honor all of the FirstFleet employees that served in our armed forces. You are a huge part of this company and we are grateful for your service and sacrifice. So join me and thank a veteran today.

This year has certainly tested our country in many ways. Here at FirstFleet, we have been working hard to deliver the essential goods that people need. Memorial Day 2020

Another year has passed and we are all getting excited for the return of summer and to finally shed our coats for a while. But before we do that, it's important that we pause and take a day to remember that our great country's strength lies in our troops who laid down their lives for our freedoms.

This is why our nation instituted this Memorial Holiday to celebrate all those that died fighting for our country. They lived, fought, and died for a greater purpose. And so today, as we rest from our labors, let us all pause and remember all those soldiers that have died fighting for us. And also don't forget to honor the families of those loved ones that carry their memory with them always.

I have always loved Thanksgiving. Food, family and football seem to dominate most peoples celebrations but it is also the perfect occasion to pause and reflect on the blessings we have received. As you prepare for Thanksgiving this year, I hope you are reminded of all the things to be thankful for.

This year, I am thankful for my family, the friends I have made, and all of you here at FirstFleet! I am incredibly grateful to work with so many amazing people day in and day out! We don’t take many opportunities to pause in our culture today and the transportation industry is no exception. People depend on us to deliver the things they need day in and day out. And I know that for many of us, Thanksgiving is just another work day. But I hope that no matter where you are, you know that we are very thankful for your dedication and hard work.

Veterans Day 2019

For the past 101 years, Americans have gathered on November 11th to honor our military veterans. Originally, this was a day of remembrance and honor for all those that fought and died in the quest for world peace during World War I. But this day of remembrance was expanded & renamed in 1954 to honor all U.S. military veterans.

While Memorial Day honors all those who paid the ultimate price and died in the service of their country, Veterans Day gives us all the opportunity to honor the veterans that are hard at work all around us. We owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served our country and we at FirstFleet would like to express our deepest thanks. Please join with us in thanking a veteran today.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

We would like to say a big thank you to all the FirstFleet Drivers who work hard day in and day out to keep our company running. Your hard work and professional attitudes are what make this company a success.

Over the past 33 years, FirstFleet has grown exponentially and your dedicated hard work has made a big difference in our ability to keep and gain new customers. FirstFleet employs over 3,000 drivers and we hear over and over again how pleased our customers are with your service, on time deliveries and going the extra mile. Each of you make this company successful and a great place to work.

We also have 579 drivers who have driven safely for one million miles, 112 drivers who have driven safely for two million miles and 19 three million mile safe drivers! This is an incredible achievement and we hope to see these numbers continue to grow!

The life of a professional driver is a challenge and one week hardly seems long enough to express our thanks. Please know that we are thankful for your hard work and dedication throughout the year and we hope you have a great driver appreciation week! July 4 is a day of fun, family and fireworks for most Americans. But here at FirstFleet, we also have many drivers on the road today delivering all the food and materials needed to keep America going. We would like to say a special thank you to all of our terminals and drivers that are working hard today.

The United States of America was founded on the values of peace, justice and liberty. Throughout our nations’s 243 year history, we have taken this day to celebrate our founding. And here at FirstFleet, we are proud to be a part of this nation as we S.E.R.V.E. our customers and employees and Safely deliver outstanding service.

I hope you all have a great 4th of July holiday, a safe drive for all of you on the road and please join us in taking a moment to remember all the sacrifices that have been made to keep this country free.

Memorial Day

Here at FirstFleet, we are thankful to all of the men and women who have fought for the honor of our nation. This Memorial Day, let us stop and remember those soldiers who died fighting for both our nation and the rights and freedoms that we hold dear.

Memorial Day is a special day to honor those that never made it home. The brave men and women who have died fighting for our country and the freedoms we enjoy are deserving of special honor because they paid the ultimate sacrifice in securing them. But great sacrifice also costs everything to those who love them best. And so let us also remember all the loved ones that our soldiers fought and died for on this Memorial Day.

Join us in taking a minute to pause and remember our soldiers this Monday. Many around our nation will place flowers and flags on the graves of those who died fighting our country’s battles. Our call as a nation is to not forget their sacrifice. So let us join H.W. Longfellow in saying, “Yours has the suffering been, The memory shall be ours.”
